Fupre - Federal University Of Petroleum Resources Effurun


Fupre stands for Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun. Effurun is the Capital of Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria.
Fupre is the first Petroleum University in Africa and sixth in the World, it was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria to create expertise in its rich Oil and Gas Sector.

Fupre was established in 2007 and admitted its first set of undergraduates in 2008, initially the institution shared facilities with Petroleum Training Institute Effurun, until it moved to its permanent site in Ugbomoro, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State in 2010.

Fupre focuses on Oil and Gas related courses like Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Geology, Geophysics and other Science and Technology related courses, The institution also has a Centre for Safety Education and a Center for Marine and Off Shore Studies.

Fupre was established with two main colleges; The College of Science and The College of Technology. Plans are in lace to establish a College of Management Science within the next few years, with Departments like Acturial Science, Business Administration, Economics and so on.

Fupre held its first ever convocation ceremony in 2017.
